Sasuntsi Davit : The statue of Sasuntsi Davit (David
of Sasoun) is the symbol of Armenian epic glory and in itself
represents the Armenian nation. The impressive and capturing
statue of Sasuntsi Davit was sculptured by outstanding Armenian
sculptor Yervand Kochar in 1959, who in 1940's had made the
original statue out of clay and which later on served as a
model for the completed copper version of the original. The
statue is located in the heart of Yerevan, next to the entrance
of the main train station of Yerevan.
Erebooni
Museum : It is located in the pathway of the entrance
to the Erebuni-Arin Berd fortress. The museum was built in
1968, during the commemoration and celebration of the 2750th
Anniversary of Erebuni-Yerevan. The large numbers of exquisite
artifacts that are stored in the museum are all from the fortress
Erebuni. The museum in itself gives the visitor an introduction
to the great fortress Erebuni, which became the nucleus of
the modern day Yerevan, the name Yerevan itself evolved from
the early Araratian name of Erebuni. Once the center of trade
and commerce Erebuni was one of the most important outpost
fortress-cities of the mighty Araratian Kingdom, established
in 782 B.C. on a much earlier settlements ( dating back to
early settlements of 5,000-6000 B.C.) by King Argishti the
First of Ararat, Erebuni ceaselessly continued its existence
up to the present day Yerevan for nearly 3,000 years.
